Tote, Hobo, Clutch? Which one is it?

Have you noticed all the different types of bags and all the different names for them? I know everyone (especially me!) wants to at least look like they totally know what they are talking about, but sometimes it’s confusing. God forbid we refer to a bag incorrectly, that would be embarrassing.

So, here’s the difference:

Tote: The term tote means ‘to carry’. A tote bag is inspired by a shopping bag, which is sturdy and rectangular with an open top and two handles. The inside may have zip compartments. A tote is generally held in your hand or carried on your forearm or elbow.

Clutch: A small purse that is carried by the hand or tucked under your upper arm. No shoulder straps, although some come with detachable shoulder straps as an option or a wristlet loop at the end of the bag.

Hobo: Single shoulder strap. Worn on the shoulder. Shape of bag is normally large and slouchy.
The hobo usually a large unstructured bag with a slouchy posture and curving/half-moon shape with a long strap designed to wear over the shoulder. Hobo bags are made out of soft, flexible materials and tend to slouch. These bags are considered to be part of the Bohemian/boho-chic trend.

Same Outfit – Make sure you look better!

Have you ever been out somewhere and find out that you have turned up in exactly the same thing as someone else? Thankfully I never have, but that’s why when you do go out, you have to make it worthwhile and make sure you look amazing. You never know when someone might turn up wearing the same thing – and you do not want them to look better than you do! Let’s face it, if anyone is wearing the same thing, we are going to decide who we think looks better. So make sure it is going to be you!

How do you rate these celebs?

My new Charlie Brown Bag – Love!

I went shopping last night on a mission to find a handbag. I went to a few places but got sucked in at the Myer Sale with 30% off selected handbags. (awesome!)
I know, I already have my dream Chanel tote, but I want it to last at least 8 years. I originally justified the purchase of my Chanel bag by calculating the price I paid for my bag against how many times I would use it. So, in 8 years it will basically pay for itself. That adds up to about $1 a day. Who can’t afford that?
So I decided to look for another (but much cheaper) handbag to use for during the week. I found this gorgeous Charlie Brown bag. Originally A$129.95, down to A$90.30. Bargain! (Double awesome!)

What bags are you lusting over at the moment?

Shopping… it’s what I do

You might have noticed that I did not blog at all the week before last. I was on annual leave from work and basically shopped till I dropped. I had no time to blog, too much shopping was to be done. I visited some of my favourite shopping destinations including Southland, Chadstone, Knox City, Fountain Gate and Frankston.

I have been focusing lately on updating my wardrobe. I have been buying lots of makeup and nail polish recently, so I decided that my wardrobe was in desperate need of some attention. I felt like all my clothes were either worn out or I was so over them. I literally had nothing to wear!

This is the perfect time of year to go shopping. It is the end of financial year and the sales are insane! The best part is that they go on for well over a month. The other best part is that when it becomes the beginning of the financial year they have sales for that too! I love a sale. It’s all about how much you save, not how much you spend. Right!? Well I have saved heaps so far! Yes, that’s right – so far – which means there is much more saving to be done!

City Chic is one of my fave stores at the moment. I just love their clothes, they are great quality and when they have a sale, they have my kind of sale! I basically own their entire store at the moment! I have accumulated a lot of bargains over the past few weeks. These are some of the highlights that I have accumulated within the past couple of months:

Rusty Jumper [Osmosis] – $89.95. I love boys jumpers. They are so much more comfy and warm.

I haven’t taken pictures of these, however I also purchased:
Black long 3/4 sleeve cardi – $20 (was $49.95)
Purple V neck 3/4 sleeve top – $20 (was $49.95)
Ring [City Chic] – $5 (was $19.95)
Set of 3 hoop Earrings [City Chic] – $10 (was $19.95)
Black Flats [KMART] – $10

I also threw in a few pairs of leggings (can’t live without them).

The pictures aren’t that great, I took them last night in my closet. The light isn’t great, but I think they look really nice and quite flattering on. The jumpers are comfy and so warm in the winter months and are generally worn at home.

I feel like my new wardrobe really reflects who I am now. Lately, I felt as though I wasn’t my stylish and fabulous self. Along with a fresh haircut, it’s nice to see me again and I really am feeling a little bit fabulous!
