Hair Extensions – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

Don’t be fooled when you flick through a magazine and look at pictures of celebs with glorious look-at-me hair. They probably have hair extensions. Hair extensions not only add length to your hair, but they also create volume. Love them or loathe them, hair extensions are a great way to create an instant long-haired look.

Bad hair extensions can take you from classy to trashy in an instant. You are better off having no extensions than having bad extensions. Take a look at these celebrities who are guilty of sporting bad hair extensions – even they can get it so wrong. You would think that someone would tell them that their extensions are showing or that they just look plain tacky. Isn’t that why celebrities pay their ‘friends’ the big bucks?

Permanent extensions can damage your natural hair so consider clip in extensions as an alternative.
I personally really like hair extensions, if they’re done right. I am considering some clip in extensions at the moment mainly to add volume and a bit of length. My hairdresser can get high quality hair extensions. They are really expensive but will last forever.

Blonde Vs Brunette

The age-old Blonde versus Brunette debate. Do blondes have more fun? Or is being a brunette more sexy?

I honestly don’t remember what my natural hair colour is! I think it’s a mousy brown colour… possibly…  I’m blonde at the moment, but I have also been a brunette, a red-head, a purple-head and a multi-coloured head.
I really like being blonde, it’s fun and it just feels a little different from being a brunette for most of my life. I’ve kept it up for about a year and a half now. No plans to change any time soon, although I am thinking of some caramel highlights…

What do you all think of the below celebrities?
What hair colour do you think suits them the best?

Ditch your boyfriend – then shave your head!

I have been noticing that so many people drastically change their hair colour after dumping their boyfriend or after they have been dumped. I have to tell you though, Kelly Osbourne has taken this to another level by partially shaving her head! She was spotted at Haze Nightclub in Las Vegas sporting her new do.

This guy must have totally done a number on her. Kelly was engaged to British model Luke Worrall for 16 months. She dumped her fiancé earlier this month after he was reportedly cheating on her.

There have been some really nasty bloggers out there posting some horrible things. One blogger posted an unflattering photo of Kelly with the caption, “who would ever want to cheat on this?” Kelly responded to this hideous person with, “Thanx, you’re a real sweet heart so what you’re saying is that I’m ugly so it was ok for him to cheat, go f**k yourself!!!!!” Didn’t their mother ever tell them that if they don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all!?

I think Kelly is looking great and she is totally rocking this new look. I would never have the guts to try this or the confidence to pull this off. The best form of revenge is to look great and show him what he is missing. He’s a cutie, but anyone that would cheat on you will never be good enough and certainly would never be worth staying with. Go Kelly!

Red turns heads

Red hair is back in a big way and it is just fabulous! When I was growing up there was always a stigma attached to red hair and people with red hair were teased because they had a different hair colour. Red hair is unique and has always been perceived in the US as sexy and chic.
Two of my best friends are lucky enough to have naturally auburn hair. My sister in law has a natural auburn hue and my sister has also joined them by dying her hair a shade of red.

Have a look at these celebrities for inspiration on how you can become a fabulous red head. Embrace your individuality and go for it. You should count yourself lucky that you aren’t like the rest of us plain-janes.

Isla Fisher – Gorgeous Aussie red head.

Lindsay Lohan – She is looking fierce.

Ashlee Simpson – This is my favourite out of all the hair colours she has rocked in the past.

Amy Adams – Would you believe she is actually a natural blonde?

Lily Cole – Supermodel and gorgeous English rose.

Olive skin works better with darker, violet-based reds while a copper tone is more suitable for pink-toned skin. Vibrant reds look great with pale complexions.
Red fades fast if your hair isn’t in great condition, so start with a good trim and a few conditioning treatments before turning your head red.

Parlux 3200 Ceramic & Ionic Edition Hair Dryer

I have just upgraded my hair dryer to the Parlux 3200 Ceramic & Ionic Edition $169.95. This is my first salon quality hair dryer and I have absolutely no idea why I didn’t upgrade sooner!

The Parlux 3200 hair dryer has won awards including InStyle’s best hair dryer and is used by hairdressing professionals all over the world. This dryer not only dries your hair faster, but it also reduces the amount of damage that your hair suffers when using a regular dryer.

The combined effect of ceramics and negative ions radiates heat inside the hair without damaging the hair. Drops of water are broken down into micro-molecules which are absorbed by the hair, leaving it frizz free and healthy. Moisture can then easily penetrate the hair shaft leaving your hair moisturized and looking soft and shiny. The negative ions also reduce static electricity and stress on the hair.

This dryer not only dries my hair super quickly, it also cuts down my drying time in half. It seriously took me less than 3 minutes – trust me, i timed it! My hair is fine and thin and generally lacks body. I find this dryer really good for blow drying and I can create plenty of volume with it. It leaves my hair feeling silky and soft, frizz and static free without drying it out. It feels the same as it does straight out of the salon.

GHD… Great Hair Day!

I have finally bought a ghd IV styler!! In the past, the only time I let one of these babies near my hair was at the hairdressers. The reason being that I didn’t want to fall in love with it, because then I would have to have one. I thought it would be ok to use at the hairdressers because your hair always looks great after your hairdresser has been playing with it anyway. It wasn’t ok though and pretty soon I had to have one, in fact I needed one! Now that I have my ghd – I love it – it is amazing – I am obsessed – I would probably die without it.

No, I haven’t been slow with the program this time, it was just one of those things that I never thought I could have. When would I have a spare $300 to buy a hair straightener? I am the type of person that will spend their last $20 on a nail polish, so I resigned myself to the fact a long time ago that I am not a saver and I would probably never own a ghd. However, I did manage to scrimp away a few bucks every week to put towards my very own ghd. To avoid spending my money on useless but absolutely neccessary essentials, obviously, I handed over my hard-earned cash to my husband for safe keeping. He was ordered that under no circumstances was he to give it back to me, no matter what I said, until I had enough to purchase my ghd. Even if there was a sale at Mimco or Mecca or Wittner! (Damn, what was I thinking?). If Chanel ever had a sale though, that would be a totally different story! My lovely husband did help me out though (quite a lot actually, after I started saving) with my wonderful purchase – thanks! I told him that he can use it any time he likes! xo

I thought that my last hair straightener was pretty good – until I got my ghd. Did I mention I have a ghd? After using my… ghd… my hair has never been healthier. I don’t know how this fabulous creation does it but when I straighten my hair it actually makes it look and feel healthy and glossy from the roots to the ends. The ends don’t look damaged and my hair doesn’t look dead anymore, it has a gorgeous shine to it. I’m not just saying that either to justify my purchase, it really is that amazing.

The ghd IV Mini Styler A$279.00 – Ideal for short hair, men’s hair, tight curls, flicks and fringes.

The ghd IV Styler A$299.00 – This is the ultimate all-rounder. It is extremely versatile and perfect for straightening, curling, flicking, twisting, movement volume and styling any way you want. It is also great for any hair length.

All these stylers feature:
– New rounder barrel which makes it easier to create perfect curls, waves, flicks or perfectly straight hair.

– Universal voltage so you can travel anywhere with it.
– Digital technology controls the temperature more quickly.

– Heats up and is ready to go in seconds.
– 2 year warranty.

Ghd have a new limited edition colour collection in the ghd IV styler range. So you can make a statement not only with your hair but also with your styler. They are A$309.00. Expensive yes, but worth every dime.

Which colour are you? Are you Red Lust, Blue Serenity, Purple Indulgence or Green Envy?

My favourite colour is purple and I certainly like to indulge, obviously! So the purple indulgence ghd was a perfect match for me.
The limited edition ghd IV Styler in the colour of your choice also comes with a quilted heat-resistant styler pouch and a protective case.

Make sure you visit the ghd website to buy yourself one online or search the nearest salon to you. This is one thing I wouldn’t buy on eBay or at any other site apart from the ghd site. There are so many copies going around, I wouldn’t want to get ripped off.

Moroccan Hair Oil – Lovely!

Moroccan Hair Oil is derived from the Argan Trees in Morocco. Sounds so amazing… and well… moroccan… sexy right!? This alone has already sold me! When I think of Morocco, I think of sunsets, spices, rich, exotic and vibrant colours, beautiful patterns, carpets and flowing fabrics, the desert, the sand and the beautiful women with long – dark – glossy – wavy – gorgeous hair. So as you can gather, I was very excited about trying this miracle oil at my hairdressers.

It is an ultra-light formula that is absorbed by the hair instantly leaving it with a natural, silky finish and brilliant shine without it looking greasy. It leaves your hair feeling super soft, more manageable and even makes drying time quicker. It also has the ability to restore damaged hair.

You can apply it to damp hair, as if it is a leave-in conditioner. You only need a tiny bit, so a bottle should last you quite a long time.
My hair is thin and fine and generally lacks volume. It also gets very oily easily, so I was a bit skeptical about using this. With this in mind, I only had it applied to the ends and mid-lengths of my hair. I was surprised to find that it didn’t weigh my hair down and actually looked more voluminous after blow-drying and straightening.

This is definitely worth a try. Check out your hairdressers for moroccan hair oil. It is usually priced around A$50 for a 100ml bottle.
