Beauty Tip # 852: Concealer or foundation first?

Apply foundation first and then your concealer. By applying the foundation first, you can see exactly what areas you require more coverage. As you apply the concealer you will see if more or less is required.

Too Faced Magic Foundation Wand

Abracadabra! This Too Faced magic foundation wand (A$61.95) is brilliant. It is the most convenient and time-saving foundation I have ever used. I went into Kit Cosmetics asking for a foundation that was quick and easy to apply. If it takes too long, I won’t wear it. Kit Cosmetics sure didn’t disappoint. They listened to what I wanted and totally came through with the goods.

Just push the button at the bottom of the wand and the foundation is released through the brush head attached at the top of the wand. The brush makes blending foundation effortless and performs like a pro with zero effort. The foundation is undetectable and makes your complexion look flawless. The coverage is also buildable and the formula is pigment rich which means that a little goes a long way. The oil-free formula feels silky and hydrated and is great for all skin types. Apply all over your face or just where needed.

It takes little time to apply and is really convenient and time-saving – especially early in the morning when you have pressed snooze on the alarm clock one too many times.

Smashbox High Definition Concealer

Tell me someone who doesn’t suffer from an occasional breakout. I have super skin envy with anyone that has flawless skin, but does anyone actually have perfect skin all the time? I’m sure everyone suffers from slight imperfections on occasion – unfortunately. Growing up, I had perfectly clear skin. Now, well… I don’t. If I break out, I freak out! It’s horrible, awful and embarrassing. Fortunately there is concealer to fix these problem areas (thank goodness!). This is a makeup must-have and I always carry this around with me just in case. A little bit of concealer instantly makes everything feel better. If you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist… right!?

Smashbox High Definition Concealer (A$28.95) covers imperfections and dark circles. It leaves a natural finish and instantly smoothes skin. This liquid formula is weightless and as well as making your imperfections disappear, it is actually good for your skin. It has cell-energising ribose, soy, angelica extract and caffeine to reduce redness, dark circles and under eye puffiness. Soft focus pearls reflect light to minimise the appearance of blemishes and fine lines. I find this concealer is really easy to blend and it provides buildable coverage.

Start by using a concealer brush, small foundation brush or your fingers and apply dabs of concealer. Lightly tap and blend in under the eye area and over any imperfections. When blending under the eye area, try blending from the outer corners in to keep concealer from settling into fine lines under the eyes.
Concealer should be applied using a very light hand to avoid becoming obvious. Remember that you are trying to cover a trouble zone, not point it out by using too much product.
