Cocktails anyone?

To be honest, I’m not the biggest drinker in the world. Although I do love a cocktail!

I went to a friends cocktail party on the weekend for her birthday. Don’t you love a party where all you have to do is just turn up and you get fed and liquored up to your heart’s content?!

I don’t go out and drink very often, but when I do my friends never leave my drink less than half full. (I’m definitely a half full kind of gal!) Ever since I was of legal drinking age I was usually the designated driver (DD). This was usually because I was a student and only worked part-time and I couldn’t really afford to drink and pay for a taxi home. It had to be one or the other. My dad paid for my petrol so I could at least afford to drive and still go out with my friends. I was also a DD because I would only have 3 or 4 beverages before I felt sick so I would get stuck into the waters and coke instead. My friends well and truly had me covered and it is fair to say that each one of my friends could drink me under the table. I was so poor I had not even discovered cocktails yet. So I was happy to drive everyone if it meant that we would all have a good time. I didn’t need to drink in order to have a good time. I carved up the dance floor (or so I thought!) without it.

So this weekend I decided to make up for all those times I was a DD and my goodness I most certainly did! I had quite a selection of cocktails to choose from. Some were not as memorable as the night wore on but here are some: the coveted Cosmopolitan (which almost burnt our throats off as there was double the amount of alcohol and half the amount of cranberry juice (oopsie!)), Vodka sunrise, Fruit Tingle, Midori illusion, the Kilbesi (a concoction made by a few guys who named their cocktail with a mixture of their last names). Then lets not forget any good hostess throwing a cocktail party would provide shots! There were Cowboys, QF’s and Jager bombs OH MY! And this was just to name a few!

I have a feeling that at this stage a certain someone suddenly took off around the corner and came back red and teary eyed a few minutes later. I wonder what they were up to? Aren’t we a classy bunch!

Now I have to admit that I thought I did pretty well keeping up with everyone due to my lack of practice. I really did try my best to push through the growing sickness and sore stomach from all the sugary, alcoholic liquid but I just couldn’t! I personally do not think it’s a good look being sick, so I had to stop immediately. I think that all my efforts will now put me back on the DD list again but at least I know that I won’t wake up with a hangover in the morning!
