Here. Swear. Swear on Chanel. – Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City.
This lucky lady was so sweet, she made sure that I didn’t miss out! I received a Sex and the City mug from the tour in the post a few days ago! I love presents! The mug has a quote from the series that I actually live by – ‘Shopping is my cardio’. So generous, thankyou so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour. His hello was the end of her endings
Her laugh was their first step down the aisle
His hand would be hers to hold forever
His forever was as simple as her smile
He said she was what was missing
She said instantly she knew
She was a question to be answered
And his answer was “I do”
I absolutely love this poem that Carrie wrote for her friends on their wedding day in Sex and the City. It was no question that I would use it as one of the readings at my own wedding.
My husband and I are not particularly religious. My mum’s side of the family is and while I was growing up, I always thought that I would be married in a church. While we were planning our wedding, I wasn’t sure how to introduce this poem to our reverend at the church where we were married. During one of our meetings at our home, I decided to just show her the poem along with another one that I had decided on. I hadn’t yet fessed up that I hadn’t chosen any religious readings and there were not going to be any hymns so I was a little nervous of her reaction. She read it and thought it was beautiful and asked where it came from – to my horror! I said I just came across it on the internet…. It just slipped out! Does that make me a bad person? To make my little fib even worse, she then asked if she could make a copy to keep and show other couples for ideas for their readings….. So I said yes. What else could I say? It is a beautiful poem, but I just didn’t feel right telling her it was from an episode of Sex and the City.
After this little mishap, our new puppy who was quietly lying on his bed decided to start humping his bed. Karma? I hope she didn’t notice, although I think she did and chose to ignore it and be polite.
The Karma did turn up on our wedding day though. Paintings from an exhibition held inside the church, that were supposed to have been moved to another location for our ceremony were in fact not moved when I turned up. In my hazy marital bliss I did not actually realize that they were still there until about half way through the ceremony. This is when our reverend decided to make a sales pitch to our guests telling them to take a look at all the beautiful paintings around the room. They might even like to purchase one after the ceremony! Are you serious? Can you imagine! At this point, I looked around the church and finally noticed that these paintings were everywhere! It was such a beautiful church, but it was covered up with these not so beautiful (hideous actually) paintings. I couldn’t believe it. Our photographer did an amazing job in hiding most of the paintings in our photos. All except for the massive portrait of Jesus, dead (can I say that? Sorry…) centre of the altar. Extremely hard to miss. Extremely awful. Jesus has now been tagged in all of these photos on Facebook. That’s how obvious he was!
Congratulations to R on her winning entry for the Sex and the City Tour in NYC.
R has scored herself 2 tickets and will be visiting NYC soon.
I think there is a little bit of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha & Charlotte in all of us. That’s why we can relate to the Sex and the City girls so well and love the show so much. I can’t tell you how many times I have watched my box set of DVD’s.
